Small studio. Serious tools.
pbdna builds focused iOS apps for professionals who need reliable, purpose-built instruments — not feature-bloated Swiss Army knives.
Why we build this way
Every pbdna app starts with a real problem in a real environment. Anchorage Risk came from anchoring in unfamiliar waters and wishing there was a single tool that combined weather, depth, and terrain into one honest risk assessment. CraneSight came from running a camera crane and needing to control and monitor a Blackmagic camera from one screen without a second operator.
The goal is never to build the most feature-complete app. It's to build the most useful one for the specific job. That means saying no to a lot of things, and yes to the things that actually matter in the field.
How we work
Purpose-built
Each app is designed for one job. No feature creep, no upsells, no subscription tiers.
Field-tested
Apps are built and tested in the environments they're meant for — on the water, on set.
Honest about limits
Planning aids are labeled as planning aids. The apps give you better information; the judgment is always yours.
