CraneSight Privacy Policy
CraneSight is designed for local camera control and monitoring. Your video, camera settings, and imported files stay on your device.
Privacy at a glance: CraneSight does not collect personal data, use analytics or advertising SDKs, track you across apps or websites, or sell or share your information.
Information we collect
CraneSight does not collect or transmit personal information, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, crash analytics, or camera footage to PBDNA.
The app does not require an account and does not operate a cloud service for camera control or monitoring.
Camera and video
CraneSight requests camera access so it can receive and display video from a compatible external USB camera. USB and NDI video frames are processed on the iPad for live monitoring and preview effects.
CraneSight does not upload, retain, or record the monitored video feed. Recording commands are sent to the connected Blackmagic camera, which manages its own recording media.
Bluetooth access
CraneSight uses Bluetooth to discover, connect to, read status from, and send control commands to compatible Blackmagic cameras.
Nearby camera names, status, and control values are used within the app and are not transmitted to PBDNA.
Local network access
When you select NDI monitoring, CraneSight uses the local network to discover compatible NDI sources and receive the source you choose.
NDI discovery and video transport occur on your local network. CraneSight does not send the feed to PBDNA. Your network operator and the providers of devices or services on that network may handle network traffic under their own policies.
Information stored on your device
CraneSight stores a limited amount of app data locally so your controls and monitor return to your preferred state. This may include:
- Camera-control values such as ISO, white balance, tint, shutter angle, focus marks, iris, zoom, and neutral-density settings.
- Monitor preferences, including the selected preview LUT and Outdoor View settings.
- Up to two LUT files that you choose to import. These are copied into CraneSight's private application storage.
- A beta authorization identifier, when applicable, stored securely in the iOS Keychain on that device.
This information is used only to provide app functionality and is not sent to PBDNA. Imported LUTs can be deleted in the app. Other local preferences are removed with the app where iPadOS permits; a beta authorization identifier stored in the iOS Keychain may remain until CraneSight removes it or the device's Keychain is reset.
Imported files
CraneSight accesses a LUT file only after you select it through the system file picker. The selected file is validated and copied into the app's private storage for preview use.
Imported LUTs affect only the local monitor preview and are not uploaded or shared by CraneSight.
Third-party technology
CraneSight includes NDI® technology for local-network source discovery and video reception. The app does not include third-party advertising or analytics services.
If you follow an external link, such as the NDI website, the destination site's privacy policy applies.
Support communications
If you contact support, PBDNA receives the information you choose to include in your email, such as your email address, device details, screenshots, and problem description.
Support information is used to respond to your request and troubleshoot the issue, and is retained only as reasonably necessary for those purposes or to meet legal obligations. Do not include confidential footage or information that is not needed for support.
Children's privacy
CraneSight is a professional camera-control tool and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if CraneSight's features or privacy practices change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
